Library
The Library of IGOT/CEG is a public space for knowledge and scientific culture, centred on Geographic Science and related areas, providing support to the communities of IGOT and the University of Lisbon, as well as to all those, within and outside academia, who wish to broaden their horizons in this field of knowledge.
Physically, it is a modern and welcoming space, including rooms for group work and providing access to computer resources for research and work development. It holds over 25,000 printed works (monographs and journals) and provides access to the bibliographic legacy of Professor Orlando Ribeiro to the CEG. The library's collection is updated annually with new bibliographic references fundamental to teaching and research in Geography and related areas.
Continuously updated and modernised, the IGOT/CEG library has significantly expanded its collection of digital bibliographic resources, which it provides to users free of charge, essential for teaching and research in various topics related to Geography and Spatial Planning, enriched and renewed annually.
Committed to a process of acquiring knowledge and skills that, in contemporary times, cannot be confined to the walls of a physical space or specialised digital repositories, requiring dialogue between scientific disciplines and openness to other creative worlds such as art and culture, the Library of IGOT/CEG assumes a proactive attitude. This is characterised by the promotion of dialogue processes, namely through the organisation of initiatives to encourage reading and scientific writing by students, the implementation of training actions, and the promotion of open debate and reflection sessions with researcher-authors, writers, and artists.
