Climate Walk in Lisbon: A Sensory Experience with Gerald Mills
On May 11th, students and researchers from IGOT walked through downtown Lisbon with professor Gerald Mills from the University of Dublin.
Researchers from the eMOTIONAL Cities project and PhD students in urban climatology from the Zephyrus research group demonstrated how cities can be built through the senses and neurosciences.
They discussed thermal comfort, the form and layout of buildings, and the influence of surface colours on the "felt" environment. They also explored how we "behave" to adapt our bodies to the sensations of the urban thermal environment, air pollution, and noise. Additionally, they highlighted the importance of green structures and their benefits to the city of Lisbon.
It was an unforgettable morning of science and camaraderie!
