Marcelo Fernandes wins the 1st edition of the António de Brum Ferreira Prize, and Teresa Vaz receives an honorable mention
On the 12th of September, the results of the António de Brum Ferreira Prize were announced. This initiative, promoted by APGEOM – the Portuguese Association of Geomorphologists, recognises the best doctoral theses in the field of geomorphology.
The 1st prize was awarded to Marcelo Fernandes, a researcher at CEG, for his thesis titled “Deglaciation chronology and post-glacial environmental evolution of the Upper Garonne valley (Central Pyrenees)”.
Additionally, an Honourable Mention was granted to Teresa Vaz, also a collaborator at CEG, for her thesis titled “Slope movements triggered by rainfall in mainland Portugal”.
The António de Brum Ferreira Prize aims to promote and encourage excellence in geomorphology research, recognising doctoral theses presented at Portuguese or foreign universities, provided the latter focus on Portuguese geomorphological topics.
