ULisboa ranks as the number 1 university in the Ibero-American space and 18th globally in the SCImago Institutions Rankings in the field of Geography, Planning and Development
Once again, Geography and Planning at the University of Lisbon stand out on both the international and national levels in the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR). In the scientific field of Geography, Planning, and Development, ULisboa ranks among the top 20 universities in the world (18th), the top 10 in Western Europe (7th), and is the first in the Ibero-American space and Portugal.
Overall, ULisboa is among the top 150 universities globally in the SIR. In this edition, the ranking assessed 9,054 institutions, including 4,762 universities, with ULisboa once again being the highest-ranked nationally, rising 25 positions to 144th place.
Despite the analysis of 229 more universities this year compared to last year, ULisboa climbed 25 positions in the ranking, with contributions to this new positioning including a 17-position increase in research indicators and a 25-position increase in social impact indicators.
In addition to universities, this ranking evaluates other research institutions, such as companies, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
The SIR has been published annually since 2009, combining three different sets of indicators based on performance in research (50%), innovation (30%), and social impact (20%).
